GST or GSTIN number is a 15-digit PAN based number assigned to individuals registered under GST. Hence, GST registration is necessary to get this number.

How can we get registered online for GST ?

After successful registration, one can obtain a GST number and enjoy tax benefits. However, one needs to follow certain steps to apply for a GSTIN.

Steps to apply for GST registration:-

  1. Visit the online GST portal.
  2. From the taxpayers tab, click on register now.
  3. Select new registration option, you will be redirected to page, where you need to provide all the details like Name, State, District, PAN card number, etc.
  4. Next click on 'Proceed' button.
  5. You will receive an OTP in your registered mobile number and e-mail id.
  6. After that temporary reference number will be assigned to you.
  7. After that select temporary reference number in place of new registration.
  8. Again you will receive an OTP.
  9. On next page you will find an application Status.
  10. At last, select your category and submit documents for the authorised signatory, place of business etc. for verification.
